But I will say that depending on the location you may wish to look at roundabouts or other geometric changes to the intersection. In England, for example, they use quite a few roundabouts (clockwise) apparently with great success and the idea is starting to catch on in the U.S. (counter-clockwise). You may also wish to go to ite.org (Institute of Transportation Engineers) and see if there is anything there.
